The Community Play Café is a family-centered, co-working space in Dayton Ohio that brings together local organizations focused on health, education, housing, and family well-being. Designed as a welcoming, non-clinical community hub, the Play Café combines a children’s play area, parent workspace, teen corner, food pantry, and free store with on-site supportive services such as parenting classes, fatherhood support, tutoring, mental health resources, and maternal and child health programming. The space also incorporates a network of trusted grandmother babysitters who help supervise children, support caregivers, and strengthen intergenerational connections. By integrating everyday needs with relationship-based support in one accessible location, the Play Café reduces barriers to services, combats isolation among families, and creates opportunities for connection, stability, and long-term community trust.
“We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”
- George Bernard Shaw
